Man City Still Be Champion Without VAR

LONDON: If the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) is not used in the English Premier League this season, Manchester City will still be the league champion.

All 20 clubs will vote next month to determine whether VAR will remain or be abolished after several refereeing decisions sparked controversy and the refereeing body, PGMOL, was forced to apologise.

Team managers and players have their own opinions on the video assist technology and here is where each team would stand if VAR did not play a role this season.

The positions of several clubs will change at the end of the season with Newcastle among the teams that will finish in a better position.

Newcastle finished the actual campaign in seventh place and still have a chance of qualifying for the Europa League next season, provided Manchester United fails to beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final this Saturday.

However, the position of the top five teams and the bottom three teams will not change if there is no VAR intervention.
